Lip augmentation uses injectable dermal fillers. These contain hyaluronic acid, a substance also found naturally in the human body. It is performed as an office procedure with little to no downtime.

Prior to the injections, the entire area is anaesthetised using nerve blocks a topical or local numbing agent may be applied to ease discomfort. Sometimes, nerve block injections can be given before the treatment. These are local anesthetic injections which are injected from the inside of the mouth to numb the lips completely.

Before the treatment, we have a detailed discussion with the patient in order to understand the type of augmentation desired. The substance is injected into your lips using very fine needles. An ice pack can be used to reduce the swelling and discomfort after the injection. But no firm pressure should be put on the treatment area.

Results are perceptible almost immediately. However, swelling may occur which usually persist for up to a week. Smoking and alcohol should be avoided during this period.

Results last for unto 1 yr depending on the kind of filler used.
