Male Breast Reduction Surgery/Gynecomastia
Gynecomastia refers to enlargement of male breast tissues or swelling of the tissues because of the hormonal imbalance. It commonly occurs due to disturbances in the endocrine system of the male body. It also happens because of the excess intake of certain drugs which result in the increment of the male breast and tumours. Gynecomastia affects both sides of the chest, or just the nipple or sometimes entire pectoral area.
It is common in young males today, who are suffering from this issue and facing embarrassment socially. Reduction of the male breast can be done with the surgical treatment and the procedure includes surgical removal of all breast tissue along with liposuction of the enlarged gland.
It is a day care procedure usually performed under local anesthesia. It is a short period of surgical treatment, no need for admission in hospital or clinic required. Patients require the use of compression garments for half-a-year to ensure proper body contouring and will be able to see the best results. Heavy exercises are not allowed to patients for initial few weeks after the surgery.
